Composite Resins: Strengthen Your Smile
Composite Resins are modern high tech tooth-colored plastics, similar to what is used in airplane construction. They are bonded to adjacent tooth structure, adding strength and sealing out decay-causing bacteria.
Composite Resins offer advantages over metal fillings. Did you know metal fillings, commonly call "silver fillings", actually consist of 50% mercury? Because we are concerned about your health, our health and the environment, we do not use mercury in our office.
If you are embarrassed about your smile because of dark fillings, you may be a good candidate for composite resins. We can blend and mix shades to match to your natural teeth.
Unlike amalgam (mercury filling) that prevents X-Ray detection of decay and can weaken and fracture teeth, we only use materials which support your tooth's longevity. For more information see Amalgam Wedge Effect.
We practice conservative dentistry. Our goal is to advise you how we can protect and save as much tooth structure as possible. You deserve to retain teeth for your lifetime.
However, if the damage caused by decay or fracture is too large for a smaller restoration, we can easily protect your tooth with a crown.
